Key Initiatives

Launch a Robust Public Awareness and Volunteer Recruitment Campaign
Time period: 9/1/24-5/31/25
Goal: Massachusetts CASA will raise public awareness about CASA through an ongoing campaign to be launched during the 2024 holiday season. The outcome will be increased volunteer recruitment and name recognition with a specific focus on reaching communities that are currently underrepresented within the CASA network. A second phase of the campaign is expected for National Foster Care Month in May, 2025.

Expand Training Opportunities for CASA Staff and Volunteers Statewide
Time period: 9/1/24-6/30/25
Goal: Massachusetts CASA will lead in the development of a robust statewide training and professional development plan for CASA volunteers. The result will be increased opportunities for training and community-building.

Increase the Number of Children with CASAs Across the Commonwealth
Time period: Ongoing
Goal: Massachusetts CASA will be a catalyst for statewide CASA growth and expansion. Massachusetts CASA helped launch CASA of Bristol County in 2022/2023 (the state’s first new CASA organization to serve a previously unrepresented county in over 20 years!). Barnstable, Dukes, Nantucket, Norfolk, and Plymouth Counties still do not have a CASA program. In addition to bringing CASA to most, if not all of those counties over the next few years, we will also be a thought partner to the Commonwealth’s seven CASA programs as they create a vision for their own growth and expansion.

Establish and Implement a Statewide Public Policy and Advocacy Agenda
Time period: 6/20/24-6/30/25
Goal: Massachusetts CASA will lead in the development and implementation of a well-coordinated and highly-effective statewide public policy agenda.

Develop a Program Evaluation Plan
Time period: 6/20/24-5/31/25
Goal: In partnership with local CASA programs and an evaluation partner, Massachusetts CASA will develop a plan for measuring its efficiency, effectiveness, and impact.
